President of Alexandria University inspects Construction Work Valued at EGP 400 Million at Faculty of Computers and Data Science
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, inspected the progress of construction work at the Faculty of Computers and Data Science building, and stressed the necessity of providing a strong, integrated, and state-of-the-art infrastructure for the new building, to keep pace with developments in the modern educational process. He stressed the need to adhere to the specified timetable and consider the quality of the final finishes of the building, which is located on an area of 2400 square meters, with a total cost exceeding 400 million pounds, including robot laboratories that are being designed for the first time at Alexandria University, in addition to devices and equipment that operate with artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, with the aim of enhancing applied research in the field of robotics and the Internet of Things, and providing training services to those interested in the previously mentioned fields
President of Alexandria University Checks on Final Exams Process at Faculties
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, inspected on Tuesday the 9th of January 2024, the progress of the first semester final exams at the Faculties of business, Dentistry, Economic Studies and Political Science, and Computers and Data Science. He was accompanied during the tour by Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs. Dr. Konsowa was received by the deans and vice-deans of the faculties for education and student affairs faculties’ secretaries
During the tour, Dr. Konsowa stressed the necessity of adhering to all procedures regulating the examinations and taking all necessary measures to ensure the smooth and efficient conduct of examination process. He also directed the deans to have all the medical and nursing teams to deal with any emergency cases, and regular control work in parallel with holding exams, to quickly announce the results of all students
President of Alexandria University Receives Delegation from Beirut Arab University to Discuss Establishing International Branch in Borg El Arab
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received a delegation from Beirut Arab University, which included Dr. Ammar Al-Houry, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Endowment for Charity and Benevolence (Waqf Al-Birr wal Ihsan) in Lebanon - Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Beirut Arab University, Dr. Wael Nabil, President of Beirut Arab University, and Dr. Omar Al-Houry, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Al-Birr wal Ihsan Endowment, with the aim of enhancing ways of cooperation between the two universities, exchanging experiences, and discussing establishing an international campus of Beirut Arab University in cooperation with Alexandria University. The meeting was attended by Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of Alexandria University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Hisham Saeed, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Gihan Gewaifel, Assistant to the University President for International University Branches.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa welcomed the university’s guests, stressing the depth of the historical relations between Alexandria University and Beirut Arab University since the establishment of the latter in 1960, with the support of the Egyptian state and Alexandria University. He pointed to the university’s keenness to continue and support these relations, explaining the goal of the visit, which is to activate aspects of academic cooperation between the two universities at the both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in light of the cooperation agreement that the two sides signed last March in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of establishing an international branch of Beirut Arab University in cooperation with Alexandria University on the Alexandria University’s campus ground in the city of Borg El Arab, in order to support cooperation relations between Egypt and Lebanon in various educational fields. Dr. Konsowa pointed out that the proposed international branch will award certificates to graduates bearing the logos of both Alexandria University and Beirut Arab University, in addition to offering modern and advanced study programs that meet the needs of the international, regional and local labour markets, indicating that the university branch will provide distinguished education in which Alexandria University faculty members will participate to benefit from their experience and skills in all different scientific disciplines.
While Dr. Ammar Al-Houri expressed his feeling of pride in cooperating with Alexandria University, which enjoys a distinguished scientific standing, and which has provided unique support over several decades to Beirut Arab University, including human cadres of faculty members and experts in various scientific fields. Al-Houri appreciated the cooperation with Alexandria University to complete this journey to achieve a prominent Arab and international status for both universities.
Dr. Wael Nabil Abdelsalam, President of Beirut Arab University, explained the university’s intention to expand the establishment of new study programs that meet the labour market inside and outside Lebanon, in a number of university campuses in Lebanon, such as the Tripoli campus and the Beqaa campus, in cooperation with the existing programs at Alexandria University.
The meeting was followed by a field tour by Dr. Konsowa and the accompanying delegation to inspect Alexandria University grounds in Borg El Arab, where the new campus of Beirut Arab University will be established.
Educational Innovations and Distance Learning Centre at Alexandria University Organizes Training Workshop for Faculty Members on Uses of Artificial Intelligence in Educational and Research Fields
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and with the support of the Francophone University Agency, the Center for Educational Innovations and Distance Learning at Alexandria University organized an international training workshop in the field of artificial intelligence. The workshop was divided into two phases, the first was from the 9th until the 11th of December, presented by Professor Dr. Zahia Jasoum from Sorbonne University in France, while the second phase took place from the 24th until the 30th of December, and it was presented by Professor Dr. Osama Abdelraouf, Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, Menoufia University.
It is worth noting that the training dealt with the concepts of artificial intelligence, and also covered many tools that faculty members can use with their students, and in their research work, even for those in non-specializations. The professors who attended the training are now working on projects in their various sectors and specialized fields to present them at World Education Day Celebration that will be organized by the Centre next January.
Alexandria University receives Delegation from Central Party School of the Chinese Communist Party
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received Professor Li Wentang, Vice President of the Central Party School of the Chinese Communist Party (Chinese National Academy of the Communist Party of China) and a well-known academic researcher involved in interdisciplinary research in the fields of humanities and social policy, and his accompanying delegation. The meeting aimed to discuss academic and cultural cooperation opportunities between the two sides, and the exchange of opinions, ideas and experiences in the fields of social and human sciences, international relations and topics of common interest.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Hesham Saeed, Vice President of Alexandria University for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Sameh Shehata, supervisor of the University’s Office of International Relations, Dr. Bushra Salem, Head of the International Relations Office, Dr. Naglaa Abou-Agag, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Walid Abdelazim, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Sherine Adel, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Sciences for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Lana Habib, Executive Director of the Teaching Arabic Language to Foreigners Centre (TAFL), and Dr. Doha Magdy, lecturer at the Chinese Language Department, Faculty of Arts.
In his speech, Dr. Konsowa welcomed the Chinese guests to Alexandria University, expressing his appreciation for the great Chinese civilization and the tremendous progress in the fields of technical and social sciences. He stressed the university’s keenness to consolidate cooperation with Chinese academic and cultural bodies, activate the agreements signed between the two sides in various fields, and discuss the possibility of establishing joint scientific degrees, research cooperation, and exchange of faculty members and students in light of the strength of Egyptian Chinese relations under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Professor Li Wentang expressed his pleasure for being at the prestigious Alexandria University, pointing to the deep relations between Egypt and China and his appreciation for the great Egyptian civilization and the development boom taking place in Egypt in various fields during the era of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He explained that the Central Party School of the Chinese Communist Party (the Chinese National Academy of Governance) includes 12 colleges specialized in the fields of humanities and social sciences, which develops and qualifies young, middle and senior competencies and cadres for leadership in all Chinese provinces and institutions. He stressed the keenness of his institution on scientific, academic, and cultural cooperation with Egyptian universities in general and Alexandria University in particular in the humanities and social sciences of common interest, within the framework of Silk Belt Initiative.
The meeting included a presentation on the history of Alexandria University, its material and human capabilities in the field of education and scientific research, and its international relations with highly ranked international universities, as well as its international campuses outside Egypt in South Sudan and Chad.
