Alexandria University gained progress in four academic disciplines within the best universities in the QS World University Ranking that included 46 disciplines. Dr. Hisham Gaber, vice-president of the university, said that AU had achieved excellence in pharmacology, agriculture and forestry, medicine and chemistry, as well as achieving a distinction in the areas of engineering and technology, social sciences and management.

This came during the meeting of Graduate Studies and Research Board, where Dr. Gaber stated that the university seeks to achieve excellence and competitiveness through the development of its regulations, curricula and teaching methods in both undergraduate and graduate stages. He also emphasized encouraging the establishment of joint scientific programs with international universities that isimportant toimprove the world ranking of the university and attract immigrant students to study inAlexandria. He also indicated that AU would organize some workshops for three days starting from first of April in order to discuss proposals and perceptions of the faculties and institutes on the development of the educational and research process, and the developed strategic plans in this regard.

 Dr. Gaber highlightedAU interest to the African dimension to support the pioneering role of Egypt's in the African continent. He indicated that the Alexandria University would implement several activities in Guinea during May within the framework of cooperation with Gamal Abdel Nasser University in Conakry. The activities would include medical convoys to provide diagnostic and treatment services and performing surgical operations, as well as training of Guineans doctors. In addition,a branch of AU Engineering Centerwill be opened in Guinea to provide consultants and engineering studies neededin the African countries and to contribute to the design and implementation of constructions and various projects.  That comes in conjunction with the celebration held in Conakry for unveiling a memorial statue of President Gamal Abdel Nasser at the university entrance.

The Alexandria University Council, headed by Dr. Essam El Kordi, congratulated the Governor of Alexandria, Dr. Mohamed Sultan, and stressed the importance of putting all the university's physical and human resources to the governorate. Stressing that all projects that have been briefed on their plans since taking over the responsibility of the province has found an important contribution to the university

Dr. Essam El-Kurdi, President of Alexandria University, received a delegation from the German Egyptian  Mobility Program for  Scientific Exchange and Excellence Development (DAAD) received Mrs. Mona Ayoub, Director of Programs at the Commission, and representatives of faculties and institutes of Alexandria University, to discuss the possibility of scientific and research cooperation between the two sides and to identify the scholarships, study programs, research and training courses offered by the Authority for undergraduate and postgraduate students and young researchers for short and long term periods. Also the financing of research projects in areas of interest to both sides and the organization of conferences and workshops in the areas of management of internationalization to attract new partners, and the training of administrators and leadership development. It was also agreed to establish a workshop in conference hall of the Faculty of Medicine in April to introduceprograms offered by the Commission in the field of care Health

AU President Dr. Essam El-Kurdi received the delegation of Alabama University - USA. The delegation consisted of professors in medicine and engineering who represented the latest results of scientific researches in early detection of colon cancer.

Dr. Mona Foad, the Professor at Faculty of Medicine in Alabama stated that the infection rate in Egypt is higher than the world average in the age under 40. She said that the protection is effective using inexpensive analysis through the current mutual researches between Alexandria University and Alabama University.

Dr. Foad Helmy Foad, the Professor of Civil Engineering in Alabama stated that AU will organize a workshop in collaboration with the National scientific Foundation in USA. The workshop will discuss the Science of Smart Cities and how to be applied in Egypt. The workshop will be held in the Four Season Hotel from 8 to 11 May 2017.

Alexandria University delegation to Guinea Conakry headed by Dr. Hesham Gaber, AU vice-president for Education and Students Affairs held a meeting with Mr. Ibrahim Fofana; the Guinean Minister of Investment. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ibrahim Rehab the university Advisor for African affairs, Dr. Ahmed Othman the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dr. Abdel Aziz Qonswa the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. The ambassadors of the two countries also attended the meeting where they reviewed the framework of cooperation in engineering and infrastructure projects. AU has a good reputation through its EngineeringCenter as a consulting firm in accordance with state orientation towards the African countries.

It was agreed with GamalAbdel-NaserUniversity in Guinea to establish a branch of AU Engineering Center in Conakry. The two sides also discussed cooperation opportunities in the medical field by organizing medical convoys in Guinea to examine and conduct surgical operation for patients in addition to providing training for Guinean physicians.

The Guinean Minister of Investment emphasized the cooperation between his country and Egypt in agriculture. He asked AU delegation to set a complete vision for cooperation in this field as a priority for Guinea government.

The both ambassadors stated their interest to cooperation between their countries in education, health, scientific research and training that shall serve the infrastructure like clean water and electricity projects.
