Dr. Ashraf Elghandour receives a delegation from the University of Piraeus in Greece to discuss ways of cooperation
Dr. Ashraf Elghandour, Vice President of Alexandria University for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, received Wednesday, 3/30/2022, a delegation from Piraeus University in Greece, in the presence of Dr. Abeer Attia, Dean of Tourism and Hotels, and Dr. Rasha Al-Shenety, Director of the Project Management Unit at the university. And Dr. Dina Ezz, Professor at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels.
In his speech, Dr. Ashraf Al-Ghandour stressed that this visit comes in order to support international cooperation and open horizons for partnership with universities and international research and educational institutions, and to activate research and educational cooperation activities between Alexandria University and Greek universities through granting the exchange of faculty members and the supporting body funded by the European Union.
While the delegation welcomed cooperation with Alexandria University as it is one of the leading universities in the Middle East, the delegation affirmed Greece's aspiration to increase scientific and academic cooperation between Alexandria University and Greek universities during the coming period.
Alexandria University receives the scientific advisor of the German Embassy in Cairo
Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, recently received Mr. Philip Moby, the scientific advisor at the Federal German Embassy in Cairo, at the university’s administration headquarters to discuss ways of cooperation between Alexandria University and German universities in the scientific, academic and research fields of common interest.
Dr. Konsowa stressed the keenness of Alexandria University, within the framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030 and in preparation for the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2022 (COP27), to cooperate with German universities in environmental issues and areas related to water, its desalination, its re-exploitation and related industries, clean energy and its advanced technology. He pointed out the importance of studying the problem of climate change and global warming facing the world in general and Alexandria in particular, in addition to active participation and cooperation in solving problems that direct the industrial community.
Mr. Moby praised the level of Alexandria University graduates and researchers, stressing the importance of continuing cooperation between Alexandria University and the scientific community in German universities, referring to the activities related to spreading environmental awareness, conferences, seminars and workshops held by the German Embassy in Cairo.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President of Alexandria University for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim Abul-Naga, Acting Vice President of Alexandria University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Ms. Isabel Meiring, Director of the German Academic Exchange Service, and Ms. Maha Wissa from the embassy’s scientific department, and a number of Professors of the faculties of engineering and medicine at the university.



The launch of the cultural and artistic season activities at Alexandria University
On Saturday evening, March 26, 2022, Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, participated in the artistic concert of Alexandria University, in the first activities of the cultural season, which is organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the university, headed by Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim Abul-Naga, Acting Deputy The President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, in the Great Conference Hall at the Faculty Development Center in Smouha.
The concert included singing performances by Mahmoud Darwish, the Kunooz Band for Arabic Music, and artistic performances by the Alexandria University Choir.




A workshop at Alexandria University on the “SciVal” program of the Elsevier International Foundation
Under the patronage of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Graduate Studies and Research Sector, headed by Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, organized today, Sunday, 3/27/2022, a workshop on the “SciVal” program affiliated with the Elsevier Foundation. Elsevier International, in cooperation with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB), and in the presence of Dr. Alaa Jaafar, Director of the Digital Library Unit at Alexandria University, the Elsevier team and a group of faculty deputies for graduate studies and research at Alexandria University.

An introductory seminar for the dual degree program in cooperation with the American University of Louisville
On Thursday, 17/3/2022, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, attended the introductory symposium on the dual degree program offered by Alexandria University and Louisville University in the United States of America for students wishing to obtain a double degree in bioengineering, and computer engineering and computer science, and introducing them to the joint program and the opportunities available to join it.
This meeting comes within the framework of the agreement signed between Alexandria University and the American University of Louisville under the umbrella of the International University of El Alamein (AIU) to offer a program that grants these two degrees.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Rushdi Zahran, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Alamein International University, Dr. Essam El-Kurdi, President of Al-Alamein International University, Dr. Ayman El-Baz, Head of the Department of Bioengineering at Louisville University in America, Dr. Mustafa Elnainay, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at Al-Alamein University, and a group of deans Deans of faculties, students of faculties of engineering, sciences, computers and data sciences.
In his speech, Dr. Konsowa said that Egypt is witnessing the construction of a new republic that keeps pace with the challenges of the times, and is based on two important elements, namely education and health. Konsowa stressed that Alexandria University seeks to integrate with the Egyptian state’s plan and achieve competitive education, and is working on developing its study programs and establishing joint scientific degrees with major universities Konsowa pointed out that this agreement allows students to study for two years at Alexandria University, and then travel to the United States of America to complete the remaining courses required to obtain the degree. At the end of his speech, he announced the support of Alexandria University for 5 distinguished students from Alexandria University. To join the summer internship at the University of Louisville, indicating that they will be selected on a competitive basis.
While Dr. Essam El-kordi stressed that the alliance between universities is intended for integration, not competition, noting that this agreement aims to graduate highly competitive cadres in various disciplines with distinguished scientific competence.
Dr. Rushdi Zahran stressed that this alliance between universities comes with the aim of developing students' skills as they are the hope of the future, and ambassadors for Alexandria University not only in Egypt, but also around the world, stressing that this agreement aims to graduate students with competitiveness at the regional and international levels.
