As part of the University’s commitment to supporting student activities and developing their artistic and scouting skills, and under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, inaugurated the 31st Scout Art Exhibition and the 2nd Scout Carnival, in the presence of faculty deans and officials from the General Administration of Youth Welfare.

The events included an inspection tour inside the various exhibition pavilions, which featured a number of activities and competitions showcasing students’ skills and scouting abilities. The attendees then proceeded to open the 31st Scout Art Exhibition, held this year under the theme “Rover Scouts Through the Ages.” The exhibition presented a collection of artistic works and décor pieces that offered a creative portrayal of different eras and civilizations.

Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, expressed his appreciation for the level of organization, meticulous preparation, and quality of artistic presentation. He affirmed that these events reflect the ongoing efforts to strengthen student activities and support students’ talents while enhancing their skills in creativity and teamwork. He also praised the excellence of the university’s students and their active role in enriching campus life, noting that these events mark a promising start to a series of activities distinguished by innovation and creativity.

Alexandria University concluded yesterday the fourth season of the “16 Arts” competition during a special closing ceremony that featured the announcement of results and the distribution of awards. The event was attended by a large number of deans, vice deans, and faculty members, in addition to the broad participation of students, with more than 400 students present, including contestants, volunteers, and attendees.

The university launched the competition on October 1, 2025, and the submission period for artworks continued until November 20 of the same year. A total of 280 students applied to participate, out of which 173 artworks were accepted according to the specified artistic criteria. A distinguished judging panel comprising experts in various art fields evaluated the submitted works.

The jury announced 16 winners, with one winner selected for each category of the competition, and each winner received a monetary prize of 1,000 EGP offered by Alexandria University.

The university also ensured the recognition of all participants by awarding them certificates of appreciation in acknowledgment of their outstanding efforts and contributions. The ceremony witnessed the active participation of civil society organizations, as Rotary Club and Inner Wheel Club presented valuable gifts to all participating students in support of young talents.

The event began with the national anthem, followed by a recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Dr. Ahmed Abdel Samad. The audience then enjoyed a choral performance presented by the Faculty of Specific Education under the direction of maestro Dr. Hani Zoweid.

Prof. Dr. Manal Fouda delivered a speech expressing her gratitude and appreciation to all participants and organizers who contributed to the success of the ceremony, confirming the university’s continued support for artistic activities for the fourth consecutive year. The judging panel was also honored prior to the announcement of the results in a joyful and celebratory atmosphere.

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, announced that Alexandria University won second place in the "Best Eco-Friendly University" competition among public universities established more than fifty years ago.

The announcement was made during the awards ceremony, held yesterday on the sidelines of the Supreme Council of Universities meeting at Suez Canal University, where the Minister presented commemorative shields to the winning universities in appreciation of their outstanding efforts in supporting sustainability practices within the university campus.

For his part, Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, affirmed that this achievement reflects the university's steadfast commitment to activating the principles of sustainability and establishing the concept of the Green University across its various administrations and faculties. He explained that the university's attainment of this distinguished position is the result of integrated efforts involving all sectors, faculties, institutes, faculty members, students, and staff, through the implementation of qualitative projects in the fields of energy management, resource conservation, and the development of sustainable supporting infrastructure. He also stressed that the university is proceeding with the implementation of its environmental strategy within the framework of its vision as a smart, governed, sustainable, and globally competitive university, and in line with strengthening initiatives that make it a pioneering role model, consistent with Egypt's Sustainable Development Vision 2030.

It is worth noting that the competition was based on precise evaluation criteria, including the efficiency of green infrastructure, energy management, resource consumption rationalization, waste management, in addition to student initiatives that contribute to raising the level of environmental awareness within the university community.

In support of the state’s efforts to enhance the quality of education and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and Dr. Alaa Al-Ashmawy, President of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE), inaugurated today, Thursday, 27 November 2025, the events of the “New Beginning for Quality Assurance in Education” initiative. The initiative is held under the auspices of the Prime Minister’s Office, in cooperation with the Arab League and the African Organization for Quality, at the Grand Conference Hall of the Faculty of Medicine.

The inauguration was attended by Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Afaf Al-Oufi, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Sanaa Radi, Vice President of the Authority for Higher Education Affairs; Dr. Hesham Abdel Nasser, Executive Director of the Initiative and Advisor to the President of the Authority for Political Communication; and Dr. Kamal Metwally, Director of the University’s Quality Assurance Center, in addition to several deans, faculty members, quality unit directors, and more than 200 male and female students from various university faculties.

During his speech, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa welcomed the attendees and praised the ongoing cooperation between Alexandria University and NAQAAE, reaffirming the university’s full commitment to implementing quality standards and its strong support for the initiative. He emphasized that the active participation of students sends a clear message that they are key partners in the development process. He noted that the university adopts a comprehensive vision to achieve academic excellence, placing quality and continuous improvement at the core of its strategic plans, based on the belief that high-quality education is the foundation for building innovative leaders. He also highlighted the university’s comprehensive plan to renovate lecture halls and academic buildings, upgrade infrastructure, and develop learning spaces and laboratories according to global standards, in addition to preserving heritage through the restoration of registered historical buildings and equipping them with modern educational facilities. Furthermore, he stressed the university’s commitment to strengthening international openness through dual and joint degrees with highly ranked global universities and the establishment of both local and international branch campuses—reflecting the university’s vision to become a world-class institution capable of graduating competitive students locally, regionally, and internationally.

For his part, Dr. Alaa Al-Ashmawy praised the distinguished level of Alexandria University, affirming the Authority’s keenness to work closely with the university to implement an integrated vision for enhancing the quality of the educational process. He explained that the initiative’s program includes interactive workshops aimed at promoting a culture of quality and clarifying the concept of accreditation. He stressed that students are a central pillar in achieving comprehensive quality, adding that the ultimate goal of the initiative is to prepare students for the labor market, ensure that academic curricula align with its needs, and familiarize them with the importance of continuous learning to keep pace with technological advancements in an era shaped by artificial intelligence.

Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim also emphasized that students are the core of the initiative, highlighting the university’s efforts to transform academic regulations from procedural texts into tangible impact that improves the educational process, ensures transparent evaluation methods, and enhances the credibility of academic degrees. He also referred to the development of student services and the complaints system, the support of institutional sustainability, and the updating of academic programs in line with labor market requirements.

Similarly, Dr. Sanaa Radi noted that the Authority places great importance on partnerships with educational institutions to implement quality standards, expressing her aspiration to strengthen direct communication with university students as the central focus of the educational process, and outlining the Authority’s plan to engage students and introduce them to its role and the concepts of quality and accreditation.

Following the opening ceremony, the workshop and accompanying training program of the initiative began, featuring specialized sessions delivered by quality experts with the participation of Alexandria University students.

It is noteworthy that the initiative aims to enhance the role of higher education students in the quality assurance system, raise their awareness of the importance of meeting quality standards in shaping the Egyptian citizen, and prepare conscious generations equipped with strong learning skills and capable of addressing future challenges. The initiative also outlines the quality standards that contribute to preparing well-educated, balanced graduates who uphold their national identity and are capable of driving development within educational institutions. The events include field visits and workshops delivered by NAQAAE trainers for students of Egyptian universities.

The first meeting of the Higher Council for Students with Disabilities was held today, chaired by Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim, Vice President of Alexandria University for Education and Student Affairs, with the attendance of Dr. Afaf Al-Oufi, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Mona Al-Moataz Bellah, Head of the Northern Sector of the Central “Tamkeen” Unit, along with the Deans of the Faculties of Arts, Law, and Medicine, the Executive Director of the Taha Hussein Center for Students with Disabilities, and the Director of the Measurement and Evaluation Center.

During the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim affirmed the leadership of Alexandria University, under the presidency of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, in supporting and empowering students with disabilities. He highlighted the university’s active participation in the presidential initiative “Tamkeen,” which aims to integrate students with disabilities into Egyptian universities and ensure a fair and inclusive educational environment. This is achieved by enhancing their rights, providing equal opportunities in academics and student activities, and offering awareness campaigns, interactive programs, and various support services.

The Vice President praised the pivotal role of the Taha Hussein Center in providing academic, administrative, social, and psychological support to students with disabilities. He emphasized that the university’s strategy focuses on offering suitable e-learning platforms, promoting a culture of inclusion among all students, ensuring coordination between faculties and specialized centers, and strengthening healthcare and social support in collaboration with the university’s psychological support centers.

For her part, Dr. Afaf Al-Oufi stressed that empowering students with disabilities academically and socially is one of the university’s top priorities, as it strives to become a leading model in providing comprehensive and integrated services.

During the meeting, the strategic plan of the Taha Hussein Center for Students with Disabilities was approved. The plan focuses on empowering students academically through educational standards, assessment, and “Techno-Academia” by providing technology-based electronic examination platforms, promoting genuine inclusion, and enhancing cooperation between all faculties, centers, and units of the university. It also includes mechanisms for health empowerment, such as allocating weekly time slots at the university’s medical units to ensure the best healthcare services for students with disabilities.

The meeting also included a presentation by Dr. Alaa Gaame’, Executive Director of the Taha Hussein Center, titled “Achievements of the Taha Hussein Center’s Action Plan for the Academic Year 2025–2026”, along with a technical presentation by Dr. Amira Adel, Deputy Executive Director of the Engineering Center, on “The Structural Status of the Taha Hussein Center and Ongoing Maintenance and Electrical Works.” In addition, Dr. Mona Al-Moataz Bellah delivered an introductory speech on the role of the Central “Tamkeen” Unit at the Ministry of Higher Education.
