Renewal of appointment of Editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram Al- massai as a member of AU Council of Higher Studies and Research for two years
Alexandria University Council during its session held on Tuesday, 27 December 2016, headed by Dr. Essam El Kurdi President of the university in the presence of Dr. Reda Farahat, the governor of Alexandria, approved a decree to renew the appointment of Mr. Alaa Eldin Kamal Thabet, the journalist and editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram Al- massai newspaper as a member from outside the Council of Higher Studies and Research for two years.
"El Kurdi” stressed the deans to follow-up exams and to set urgent solutions for emergencies
Dr. Essam El Kurdi, President of Alexandria University stressed the deans to follow up the activities of first semester exams and to set urgent solutions for any emergency case that threatens the exams process. He also called to take all necessary actions to provide comfort to the students during their examinations and to secure the examinations. He also stressed on the attendance of faculty members and assistance staff and in all faculties during the period of the examinations.
President of the foreign affairs committee of the House of Representatives delivered a lecture on "The Palestinian problem"
The Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science organized a symposium on the Palestinian problem and its implications for the Egyptian national security. A lecture was delivered by the ambassador Mohammed Orabi the former Egyptian minister of Foreign Affair. Mr. Orabi is currently President of the foreign affairs committee in the House of Representative. The symposium was attended by Dr. Kadri Ismail Dean of the faculty, Dr. Mamdouh Mansour, Head of the Political Science Department, Dr. Ali Abdel Wahab, Faculty deputy for Education and Students Affairs and a group of faculty members and students.
Alexandria University approves plan to operate the children hospital in Smouha next January
Alexandria University Council during its session on Tuesday, 27 December 2016 headed by the Rector Dr. Essam El Kurdi decided to start the executive plan to reform the medical system and achieve integration and sustainability in the medical care provided by medical institutions of Alexandria University. The Council approved the formation of the AU Medical Council to start its work by next February.
Alexandria governorate will also form a medical council under headed by the governor to unify the medical content in all university hospitals, military hospitals and hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health in Alexandria. It was also announced that a plan was set to operate the children hospital in Smouha as specialized
hospital in pediatrics and pediatrics surgery starting from January 2017.
The Committee of Higher Education Reform Experts in a symposium at "Medicine"
Dr. Mohammad Ismail Abdo, Vice President of Alexandria University for Matroh Branch Affairs stated that the student is the core of the educational process so that development programs of the higher education should be directed to the student as the principle output of higher education. He indicated that AU is characterized by distinct educational programs in undergraduate and graduate levels and confers many joint degrees in collaboration with world universities.
That came during the symposium organized by the Committee of Higher Education Reform Experts H.E.R.E. in the conference hall of the Faculty of Medicine.
The symposium was attended by deans, deputies and faculty members of Alexandria University and other Egyptian universities.
Dr. Ismail added that higher education reform must address several items: education, students, graduates, faculty members, scientific research, community service and the development of the environment.
Prof. Dr. Seddik Abdel Salam, Vice-President of AU for Graduate Studies and Research declared that big universities focus its curricula and programs on the student and called to develop the pre-university education by developing appropriate curricula for the labor environment.
Dr. Yasser El-Shayeb, Director of the National Agency EU Programs NEO declared that the H.E.R.E committee is a selected group of Egyptian professors to perform continued development and researches with big universities in the European Union. He also stated that during 2017 a number of workshops will be held on medical education and students’ development.
The symposium included some presentations delivered by committee members on higher education reform issues.
