Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received Dr. Dina Rashed, Associate Dean of the University of Chicago in the United States of America, with the aim of developing ways of academic cooperation between the two sides on topics of common interest. The meeting was attended Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of Alexandria University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Hisham Saeed, Acting Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Ahmed Wahban, Dean of the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Sciences, Dr. Sameh Shehata, Officer in Charge of the Office of International Relations, and Dr. Gihan Gewaifel, Assistant to the University President for International Universities Affairs.
During the meeting, Dr. Konsowa welcomed the attendees, stressing Alexandria University’s keenness to consolidate cooperation with American universities in various scientific fields, noting the extended relations and joint academic degrees with many American universities, such as Virginia Tech, Alabama, and Louisville. He pointed to the university’s strategy towards establishing several dual and joint degrees with highly ranked international universities in order to provide distinguished educational service and to graduate a generation capable of competing in the local, regional and international labour markets. Dr. Konsowa expressed his aspiration to increase this cooperation in the fields of education, scientific research, innovation, the establishment of joint scientific degrees, and the exchange of faculty members and students whether on the undergraduate or postgraduate levels.
Dr. Dina Rashed praised the outstanding level of students and graduates of Alexandria University, stressing the University of Chicago’s keenness to develop cooperation with Alexandria University in the areas of educational programs and joint research projects in various academic disciplines.
