Alexandria University students achieved advanced positions in the Egyptian Universities and Higher Institutes Karate Championship, which was held at Cairo University, with the participation of 324 male and female students from 34 universities and higher institutes, under the auspices of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports.
The final results of the tournament contained 14 male and female students from Alexandria University winning advanced positions in the individual and team competitions, as follows:
• Alexandria University men team won the first place in the collective kumite competition.
• Alexandria University women team won the first place in the collective kumite competition.
• Amr Mohamed Abdel-Aleem won the third place in the individual kata competition (male students).
• Donia Yousry Mohamed won the third place in the individual kata competition (female students).
• Alexandria University men team won the third place in the kata competition.
• Alexandria University women team won the second place in the kata competition.
• Mohamed Anwar Gaber won the first place in the kumite competition (men under 60 kg weight category), while Ziyad El-Gharib Rabie won the second place.
• Karim Ibrahim Ahmed won the second place in the kumite competition, (men under 67 kg weight category), and the student Abdelrahman Tarek Sami won the third place.
• Salah Shawky Ahmed won the third place in the kumite competition (men under 75 kg weight category).
• The student Malak Mohamed Abdelrazek won the first place in the kumite competition (women under 50 kg weight category), and Maryam Amr Ali won the third place.
• Yasmine Nasr Abbas won the third place in the kumite competition (women under 55 kg weight category).
• Noreen Mohamed Kamal won the second place in the kumite competition, (women under 61 kg weight category), while Fawzia Mahmoud Attia, won the third place.
• Nour Akram Suleiman won the first place in the kumite competition (women under 68 kg weight category).
• Dina Ahmed Saeed won the second place in the kumite competition, (women over 68 kg weight category).
