Under auspices of the President of Alexandria University Dr. Essam El Kurdi, the first round of the international competition of Landmine Monitoring in collaboration with HADATH Organization for Creation and Entrepreneurship and the Association of  Electrical Engineers. Also, the Egyptian Agency of Communication is the strategic partner with participation ofa teams from the universities; Alexandria, Helwan, Zagazig, Banha, Menofia, Tanta, El Menia, AUC and many other universities.Under auspices of the President of Alexandria University Dr. Essam El Kurdi, the first round of the international competition of Landmine Monitoring in collaboration with HADATH Organization for Creation and Entrepreneurship and the Association of  Electrical Engineers. Also, the Egyptian Agency of Communication is the strategic partner with participation ofa teams from the universities; Alexandria, Helwan, Zagazig, Banha, Menofia, Tanta, El Menia, AUC and many other universities.AU vice-President for Education and Students Affairs Dr. Hisham Gaber in his opening speech stressed the importance of the competition as Egypt comes second among the countries with the highest number of landmines of 23 million left behind the wars in the 20th century.Dr. Abdel Aziz Konswa, the Vice President of AU for Community Service and Environment Development underlined the role of the university and the civil community in supporting the youth and creative ideas using modern technology to convert it to real projects can be implemented and help the government to eliminate the landmines from the north coast and achieve sustainable development there.The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering said that the faculty participated in many international competitions and achieved superior places. He wished success to all participants.Eng. Mohamed Aboud the Director of HADATH Organization said that the competition idea is to design robots to discover landmines above and underground. He added that the best 10 teams from universities and 8 teams from pre-university level will selected by the end of the day, then three teams will be qualified to the finals in Madrid in next October.
