The Alexandria University Council, chaired by Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of the University, held its regular meeting and reviewed a number of academic, administrative, and student-related issues.

The Council congratulated faculty members, staff, and students on the start of the new academic year and stressed the importance of completing the upload of electronic textbooks and course materials to the university’s digital platform.

The Council honored the Alexandria University Sustainability Office for its efforts, following the university’s achievement of 1st place among African universities and 107th globally in the 2026 GreenMetric Sustainability Ranking.

It also honored the Aquaphoton student team from the Faculty of Engineering for winning 1st place regionally in the MATE Egypt Regional ROV Competition and 4th place globally in the MATE ROV World Championship in Canada.

The Council congratulated the Faculty of Specific Education on obtaining academic accreditation and praised the university’s students for their outstanding performance in the 12th African University Games, where they won 55 medals: 22 gold, 17 silver, and 16 bronze.

The Council also approved several international academic and cultural cooperation agreements with universities and institutions in Lebanon, Canada, China, Russia, Azerbaijan, and Romania, as well as a number of donations to university hospitals and faculties totaling millions of Egyptian pounds.

Finally, the Council approved the promotion of 28 faculty members, the appointment of 24 lecturers, and the awarding of 83 PhD and 159 Master’s degrees across various academic disciplines.
