The 12th edition of the African Universities Games «Cairo 2026» is being held in Egypt from September 8–16 under the slogan “One Flame… One Continent,” with the participation of more than 2,000 students representing 82 universities and educational institutions from 18 African countries.

Alexandria University, under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, is participating in the Games, reflecting its commitment to supporting students and developing their sporting talents.

The university’s swimming team achieved an outstanding performance in its first participation, winning 7 medals: 2 gold and 5 silver.

Results:

- Mohamed Khaled Maher – Faculty of Arts: Gold in the 50m Breaststroke; silver in the 50m and 100m Freestyle.

- Mohamed Salama Gaber – Faculty of Engineering: Gold in the 100m Butterfly; silver in the 100m and 200m Freestyle.

- Farouk Mohamed Farouk – Faculty of Medicine: Silver in the 200m Individual Medley.

Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim congratulated the swimmers and the technical and administrative teams, praising their outstanding performance and wishing them continued success in representing Alexandria University honorably in international competitions.
