
As part of Alexandria University's strategy to enhance the quality of healthcare services, Smouha Specialized University Hospital has received preliminary accreditation from the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) after successfully meeting the Authority's nationally and internationally recognized quality standards.
Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, congratulated the hospital's staff on this achievement, describing it as a reflection of the University's commitment to quality, institutional excellence, and the continuous development of its university hospitals in support of Egypt's Universal Health Insurance System.
Prof. Tamer Abdallah, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, stated that the accreditation is the result of the dedicated efforts of the hospital's medical, nursing, administrative, and technical teams. He added that it marks an important step toward full accreditation and reinforces the hospital's commitment to providing safe, high-quality healthcare services in line with international standards.
With this achievement, the total number of GAHAR-accredited university healthcare facilities in Egypt has reached 24, highlighting the growing role of university hospitals in advancing healthcare quality, medical education, and scientific research.
