
As part of Alexandria University's commitment to community service and its ongoing efforts to provide healthcare services to underserved communities, and under the patronage of Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, and the supervision of Prof. Affaf Al-Oufy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Faculty of Medicine organized a comprehensive medical convoy to serve the residents of Abis 7 in Alexandria Governorate.
The convoy was supervised by Prof. Tamer Abdallah, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, and Prof. Mohamed Sedka, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development. It was conducted with the participation of the Faculties of Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Nursing, as well as the Medical Research Institute, in cooperation with the Al Me'mareya Foundation, the National Council for Women, and Alexandria University's Anti-Violence Unit. The convoy also witnessed outstanding participation from university students and members of the "A Doctor for You" student initiative.
Prof. Tamer Abdallah emphasized that the medical convoy reflects Alexandria University's strong commitment to fulfilling its social responsibility by providing integrated healthcare services and improving access to quality medical care for underserved populations. He noted that the convoy involved 56 students from the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, 10 specialized physicians representing seven medical specialties, in addition to dedicated nursing teams.
For his part, Prof. Mohamed Sedka stated that the convoy provided medical services to 467 beneficiaries across several specialties, including Otorhinolaryngology (38 cases), Orthopedic Surgery (72), Internal Medicine (90), Ophthalmology (49), Dermatology (74), Pediatrics (79), and Dentistry (65).
He added that the convoy extended beyond medical consultations by providing free medications to all patients. Furthermore, 63 cases were referred to Alexandria University Hospitals for further diagnostic investigations and the necessary surgical interventions, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive and continuous medical care.
