Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, received a high-level delegation from Carleton University, Canada, headed by Dr. Wisdom Tettey, President of the University, and including Dr. Rafik Goubran, Vice President (International and Research) and member of the Presidential Advisory Council. The meeting aimed to explore prospects for joint cooperation, strengthen international partnerships, and open new avenues for collaboration in education and scientific research.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Affaf Al-Oufy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Ali Abdel Mohsen, Supervisor of the International Relations Office; and Dr. Jehan Guivelle, Assistant to the University President for the Internationalization of Education and International Branch Campuses.

During the meeting, the Acting President reviewed the university’s academic and research capabilities, its strategy for internationalization of education, as well as its joint programs and dual degrees in cooperation with international universities. He also highlighted the university’s standing in global rankings and its expansion in establishing international branches outside Egypt.

Dr. Abdel Hakim noted that discussions addressed activating cooperation in joint research projects, particularly within the Horizon Europe program, in addition to expanding dual degree programs in engineering, biomedical sciences, and interdisciplinary fields. He also emphasized the importance of supporting student exchange programs and faculty mobility, affirming that partnership with Carleton University represents added value given its distinguished position in innovation and scientific research.

For their part, the Carleton University delegation expressed their appreciation for Alexandria University, praising its advanced level in education and scientific research, as well as its distinguished academic and research infrastructure that qualifies it to strengthen its international presence. They also affirmed their keenness to expand areas of joint cooperation and build on the ideas discussed during the meeting, contributing to the establishment of a sustainable strategic partnership between the two institutions. The delegation expressed their aspiration to translate these discussions into tangible agreements and executive programs in the near future.
