Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received yesterday the international expert Dr. Yin Li, Head of the Esophageal Surgery Department at the National Cancer Institute in Beijing.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Affaf Al-Oufy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Tamer Abdallah, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Dr. Wael Hassanien, Head of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department; Dr. Walid Abu Arab, Professor of Thoracic Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine; and Dr. Ahmed Dawoud, Lecturer of Thoracic Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. Konsowa affirmed that this meeting comes within the framework of Alexandria University’s strategy to host international experts and distinguished professors in rare medical specialties, with the aim of transferring global expertise to the university, training medical personnel, enhancing the quality of medical services provided to citizens, and benefiting from international surgical experiences within the university hospitals.

Dr. Tamer Abdallah noted that Dr. Yin Li will hold a conference on endoscopic esophageal surgery on February 6 and 7, during which the latest developments and research related to esophageal surgery and the most advanced treatment methods will be discussed. The event will also include workshops and lectures aimed at enriching the educational process and scientific research.

It is worth noting that Dr. Yin Li performs more than 1,000 surgical procedures annually in the Esophageal Surgery Department in China. He has numerous internationally published research papers, in addition to patents for innovative techniques in esophageal cancer surgery. He will also perform surgical procedures using thoracic and abdominal endoscopy, with a focus on minimally invasive surgeries, as well as conduct specialized workshops and lectures on the treatment of esophageal tumors and modern surgical intervention techniques.
