The Graduate Studies and Research Council at Alexandria University, during its meeting held on Sunday morning, September 21, 2025, chaired by Prof. Dr. Hisham Saeed, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, congratulated the members of the research team of the Alexandria Regional Alliance on winning one of the projects of the presidential initiative “Alliance and Development.”

This initiative aims to support and enhance the electric vehicles and smart transportation industry by increasing the local manufacturing component and qualifying specialized human resources, thereby contributing to supporting the national economy and achieving sustainable development.
During the meeting, the Council discussed the policy regarding the inclusion of the names of external examiners or reviewers on scientific papers derived from academic theses. It affirmed that the general rule is not to include the names of examiners or reviewers if their role is limited solely to evaluation or discussion, as this role is purely evaluative and does not grant the right to authorship in published research. The Council clarified that names may only be included in cases where there is a clear, documented scientific contribution, approved by the relevant academic department council and in accordance with international publishing standards. Such contributions include participation in research or experimental design, data collection, statistical analysis of results, or scientific writing and review, subject to the approval of the researcher and the supervisory committee.
The Council also approved the renewal of the cooperation agreement between Alexandria University (Faculty of Tourism and Hotels) and the Egyptian Travel Agents Association – Alexandria Branch (ETAS), in addition to approving the proposed cooperation agreement between the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels and Orange Bay Tourist Island in Hurghada, Red Sea Governorate, in the field of practical training for faculty students.
Within the framework of supporting international academic cooperation, the Council approved a number of cooperation agreements, including an agreement between Alexandria University (Faculty of Education) and Rennes 2 University in France, as well as an agreement between Alexandria University (Alexandria University Hospitals) and the Faculties of Medicine at the University of Toulouse (Paul Sabatier University – Toulouse III) and Toulouse University Hospital in France.
The Council also approved a memorandum of cooperation between Alexandria University (Faculty of Medicine) and Loyola University Chicago in the United States of America, in the field of clinical training for medical students.
The Council further approved the framework international cooperation agreement between Alexandria University (Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science) and the University of Lyon, France – Institut d’Études Politiques de Lyon (Sciences Po Lyon), in a manner that enhances international partnerships and supports the exchange of academic and research expertise.
