
Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received today, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, the members of the Egypt Award for Government Excellence Committee, within the framework of the evaluation and judging activities of Alexandria University’s Internal Excellence Award in its first edition for the year 2025.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Affaf Al-Oufy, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Mahmoud Zaki, former President of Tanta University and member of the judging committee; Dr. Mohamed Anwar, Head of the Internal Excellence Award Team at Alexandria University; and Dr. Ahmed Seddik, Director of Evaluation and Quality at the Egypt Award for Government Excellence, in addition to a number of officials responsible for evaluation, logistical support, the evaluation team, and the Award Project Management at the University.

In his speech, Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa welcomed the members of the Egypt Award for Government Excellence Committee to Alexandria University, stressing the University’s commitment to entrenching a culture of excellence across all its administrative units and facilities, in a way that contributes to improving institutional performance and enhancing the University’s competitiveness at both the regional and international levels. He added that the University has a number of centers of excellence aimed at improving the quality of services provided to its members and the surrounding community, alongside adopting best practices in institutional excellence. He also noted that Alexandria University places special emphasis on developing its infrastructure in accordance with sustainability standards, investing in human capital, and leveraging the distinguished competencies the University possesses, in addition to expanding joint and dual degree programs in cooperation with leading international universities.

For her part, Dr. Affaf Al-Oufy affirmed Alexandria University’s commitment to sustaining the application of the institutional excellence system, noting that the University has been awarded the title of “Most Sustainable University in Africa for 2025”, according to the results of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025, announced on December 5, 2025, during the international ceremony hosted by Taiwan with the participation of hundreds of universities from around the world. She explained that this achievement represents a qualitative addition to the University’s journey toward global leadership in the fields of environment and sustainability.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mahmoud Zaki expressed his appreciation for the commitment of Alexandria University and its leadership to spreading the culture of institutional excellence and investing in distinguished human resources, in a manner that ensures sustainable development and the achievement of excellence within the University.
Dr. Ahmed Seddik also praised the efforts exerted by the Internal Excellence Award management team throughout its various stages, emphasizing that investing in academic and administrative cadres—through excellence ambassadors and internal evaluators—represents the cornerstone for sustaining institutional development. He noted that the long-standing history and academic stature of Alexandria University impose a continuous commitment to fostering a culture of quality and excellence, expressing his aspiration to see one of the University’s faculties reach the national award podium in the coming phase, reflecting its readiness to compete at the national level.
The meeting included a comprehensive discussion of the evaluation results, starting with training programs for excellence ambassadors and internal evaluators, passing through the number of applications submitted—which reached 18 faculties—and the stages of evaluation and field visits, and concluding with the presentation of final results and recommendations aimed at supporting development efforts and consolidating the culture of institutional excellence at Alexandria University.
