
As part of Alexandria University’s strategy to internationalize education and strengthen its academic partnerships with leading global universities, and in accordance with the joint academic cooperation agreement between Alexandria University and the University of Louisville (USA), Professor Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, participated in an introductory seminar organized by the Faculty of Engineering, attended by Dr. Ayman El-Baz, Head of the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Louisville. The seminar aimed to introduce undergraduate academic partnership programs, summer training opportunities, as well as master’s study pathways at the University of Louisville across various engineering disciplines.
The meeting was attended by Professor Roshdy Zahran, former President of Alexandria University; Professor Walid Abdel Azim El-Barqi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Professor Wael El-Maghlany, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Professor Mostafa El-Naanaei, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at Alamein International University; and Professor Ahmed El-Tarras, International Relations Officer at the Faculty of Engineering, in addition to a large number of students and alumni.

In his remarks, Professor Abdel Aziz Konsowa welcomed Dr. Ayman El-Baz to Alexandria University, affirming that the cooperation agreement with the University of Louisville represents a successful model of international partnerships aimed at enhancing the quality of engineering education through dual and joint degree programs with leading global universities. He praised the efforts exerted by Dr. Ayman El-Baz in ensuring the success of this strategic partnership. The University President explained that the agreement includes a dual bachelor’s degree program under the (2+2) or (3+1) systems, enabling students to obtain two bachelor’s degrees from both universities, whereby the student studies two or three years at Alexandria University and completes the remaining period at the University of Louisville. The agreement also includes a joint master’s program and summer training opportunities, during which the University of Louisville hosts Alexandria University students for training in its advanced research laboratories across various engineering fields.

For his part, Dr. Ayman El-Baz expressed his pride in the fruitful academic cooperation between the Universities of Louisville and Alexandria, commending the pioneering role of Alexandria University and its leadership in the success of this program, which is considered one of the leading models in the region. He emphasized that the program offers students a comprehensive academic and cultural experience that contributes to developing their skills, expanding their professional networks in both academia and industry, and enhancing their participation in scientific research. Dr. El-Baz also noted the ongoing coordination between the two sides to overcome challenges and provide high-quality educational opportunities for students, thereby strengthening their competitiveness in local and international labor markets.
The meeting included a presentation showcasing success stories of students who participated in the joint programs and international training over the past years, highlighting their academic and research excellence and the career opportunities they obtained at major global universities, institutions, and companies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Ayman El-Baz and the attending officials responded to questions from students and graduates regarding admission requirements for the joint degree programs at the undergraduate and master’s levels, application procedures, and summer training opportunities.
It is worth noting that last year witnessed the graduation of two cohorts from the joint certificate program between Alexandria University and the University of Louisville, reflecting the success and sustainability of this international academic cooperation.
