Alexandria University Council held its meeting yesterday, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, chaired by Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Konsowa congratulated all Alexandria University members on the approaching Eid al-Adha. He also thanked the members of the University Council, the deans of the faculties, the faculty members, and the administrative staff for their efforts in supporting the educational process during the second semester and the final exams period. He emphasized the need for full adherence to the rules of the examination process, raising the level of preparedness in all faculties and institutes, securing exam halls and ensuring full discipline within them, and adhering to occupational health and safety instructions. He also emphasized the need for faculty members to be present in exam halls to answer student inquiries and provide all necessary care for students to take exams in a suitable environment. He emphasized the need to begin marking answer sheets immediately after each exam, with accurate monitoring and review being completed in preparation for the announcement of results on time.
- As part of the university's commitment to improving institutional performance, the university president directed the formation of a team within the faculties and institutes to prepare electronic forms containing all data and information related to administrative, financial, and legal aspects. This will pave the way for the first phase of implementing the ERP system, which relies on a comprehensive database. The goal is to develop and manage the work environment in an integrated manner within the framework of a smart, sustainable, and globally competitive university.
- The council thanked the Board of Directors of the University Hospitals and all its members in appreciation of their role and continuous efforts in providing treatment and health services to a large segment of citizens inside and outside the governorate in all medical specialties. This is in addition to the university hospitals fulfilling their educational, research, and training roles, and their continued development efforts to improve the healthcare system provided to citizens.
- The council approved the establishment of a professional master's degree in artificial intelligence in the Information Technology Department of the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research.
- The Council approved the issuance of a "Procedural Guide for the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research: Applications and Cautions" in both Arabic and English languages. This guide serves as a manual for supervisors and researchers on how to handle AI applications in scientific research of all types, including scientific dissertations, miscellaneous research, and research projects.
- The Council approved the awarding of the Distinguished Employee and Distinguished Worker Awards for 2025.
- The Council approved the academic cooperation agreement between Alexandria University (Faculty of Engineering) and Missouri University of Science and Technology in the United States of America, the academic cooperation agreement between Alexandria University (Faculty of Arts - Department of Libraries and Information) and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and the cooperation agreement between Alexandria University (Faculty of Engineering) and Elsewedy Electric to sponsor the Lynx team in the SAE International Aerospace Design Competition and the DF Design, Build, and Fly Competition.
- The Council approved the acceptance of donations from El-Gharabli Integrated Engineering Works Company for the Cardiovascular Diseases Department at the main university hospital, valued at one million Egyptian pounds, and a donation from Pharos University to purchase supplies for the cardiac and chest room at Main University Hospital, valued at 1.7 million Egyptian pounds.
- The Council approved the promotion of 37 faculty members, 16 to full professors and 21 to associate professors, the appointment of 25 lecturers, and the awarding of 97 doctoral degrees and 148 master's degrees in various scientific disciplines.
