Prof. Dr. Seddik Abdul Salam, Alexandria University vice president for Higher Studies and Research, declared that the 2017/2018 scholarship program in England is open to study for one year in one of British universities for Master Degree in any discipline. Prof. Dr. Essam Khamis, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Dr. Rushdi Zahran,President of Alexandria University, opened on April 23rd , 2016 evening the event of the Seventh Environmental Forum of Alexandria University which is organized by Community Service and Environmental Development sector, under the title of “Climate Change and Sustainable Development Objectives” . Its events continue for two days to discuss the important environmental issues.

Furthermore, Dr. Rushdi Zahran asserted, in his speech, that education and scientific research are the engine of development, referring to the University keenness to organize environmental forum 10 years ago. That is to discuss current environmental issues as a commitment towards the state and society to tackle new issues, and the development of the exciting ones, coming up with workable recommendations provided to the state to achieve the objectives of sustainable development.

Prof. Dr. Essam Kurdy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, pointed, in his speech, that Egypt is one of the leading countries regionally regarding the involvement in international agreements that promote the trend towards the objectives of sustainable development. Furthermore, he referred to the call of the President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi to international community to support the endeavors done by Egypt on the national level in this field, adding that Egypt and the African countries fulfilled their commitments to contribute and set ambitious national plans to encounter climate change as Egypt passed a comprehensive national plan for sustainable development until the year

 

 

 

 

The Graduate Studies and Research Council of Alexandria University headed by Dr. Seddik Abdul Salam, Vice President of the university adopted the establishment of a professional diploma in computer science for non-specialists in the Faculty of Science for graduates from the Egyptian universities and equivalents.

Alexandria University has made progress in Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, July 2016, to measure the quality of education and research services, to more than twenty thousand universities around the world, where it take first place at the level of the Egyptian public universities, followed by Cairo University and University of Mansoura and Benha University, and the third among Arab countries after King Saud University and King Abdulaziz University and 609 at the international level.

Dr. Rushdi Zahran, president of Alexandria University declared that the university has expanded during the previous period to be within this category, and that the progress of the university is due to their efforts academically and administratively, as well as professors and students and staff's efforts in the development of leading standards to the presence in this excellent reputation.

He pointed out that the Webometrics Web Rankings is a subsidiary of one of the Spanish research centers and evaluation and specializes in monitoring academic websites, also is considered the most advanced in the field of research, studies and reports, electronic pages in the world, a global classification linked to the standard of research and technical files, and is updated on a regular basis every six months, and it is rated the best universities in the world on the basis that any university activities appear in their websites.

The president of the university added that the rating system focuses on academic content and research on the Internet for both students and academics and research centers of the universities, and access to it, as it measured by the level of follow-up on the electronic university sites.

In the context of opening horizons for cooperation and development in scientific and cultural exchanges between Alexandria University and educational institutions of China, Prof. Dr. Essam El Kurdi, Vice President of Alexandria University traveled to China where he visited several universities and discussed with university leaderships ways to establish relationships and joint cooperation in academic fields and exchanging faculty members and students to educate Arabic language for Chinese students in TAFL Center (Teaching Arabic as Foreign Language) of the Faculty of Arts, as well as educating Chinese language for students of Alexandria University. Dr. Kurdi discussed with Chinese universities financial resources for joint education projects and translation of Arabic and Chinese reference books. Dr. Kurdi will deliver a public lecture entitled "Alexandria University and Silk Road" for students studying Arabic in those universities.
